About the Book

Small Apartments is the offbeat tale of an obese, slovenly peeping tom, his odd brother, his pothead neighbour, and their quest to hide the body of an unfortunate landlord. The story is accented along the way by murder, strange fingernail collections and the occasional blast from a treasured alphorn. Since taking the prize in the 23rd Annual 3-Day Novel Contest, Chris Millis has since adapted his novel to the big screen.

A capricious comedy of errors, Small Apartments resonates with tremulous energy and memorable characters. Franklin Franklin is a fully realized and sympathetic protagonist in the vein of Ignatius Reilly (A Confederacy of Dunces), a simple man who yearns for “a land of pastoral serenity” devoid of the irritants of contemporary urban society. Deviant Films will release Small Apartments as a motion picture starring Rob Schneider in 2010.

Reviews

“brisk and compact…surprisingly expansive thematic breadth, a thoughtful, silly yet serious life study in goofy pathos.” — the Globe and Mail
