Tackle Brendan for a Dollar
Friday, June 5th, 2009In case you thought that doing (and winning) the 3-Day Novel Contest is the craziest thing Brendan McLeod has done, check out this video of Tackle Me For A Dollar. Brendan stood in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery inviting strangers to have a run at him to change people’s thinking about panhandlers. The whole thing was part of a performance art project by the Never Be Lonely artists collective. Brendan appears to be walking around today, so no writers were (seriously) hurt during the filming of this event. Find out more about the tacklings and the public’s reaction at Brendan’s website.
Brendan McLeod on Tour
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009You may have missed our 2006 winner Brendan McLeod this past February, when he let passers-by on the streets of downtown Vancouver tackle him for a dollar for charity. But you can still catch him out and about across Canada this spring and summer. He’ll be touring with his band, The Fugitives, with his new two-man kids-show-for-grownups, Awesome Face, and on his own in several solo SLAM shows.
Find upcoming tour dates and locations at his MySpace page. Don’t miss a chance to see this fantastic performer! And get him to sign your copy of The Convictions of Leonard McKinley while you’re there.
